The recently released January 2022 Quarterly OASIS Q&As reiterated the CY 2022 Home Health Final Rule confirming that OASIS-E will begin on January 1, 2023, instead of the originally estimated time frame of one full year after the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency. They went on to say that CMS will release a draft of the updated version of OASIS-E in early 2022, with the date to be determined. Also addressed is OASIS item M1242, reminding readers that this item became optional at all OASIS time points effective December 30, 2021. This allows agencies to enter an equal sign (=) for M1242 at all time points, indicating they have chosen not to report on the item.
